In the summer 2013 there was opened a new hostel in Saint Petersburg, Russia – Giggly Hostel.

We visited Giggly and met with its management.

Location

Giggly Hostel is situated on Rizhsky avenue 2, near Fontanka embankment and Mariinsky Theatre. It will take about twenty minutes walking to get downtown. The nearest metro station (Baltiyskaya) is 7 minutes away from the hostel.

General appearance

The hostel offers 28 unique rooms. Each room is exclusively designed and represents different types of things bringing people happiness and making them smile and giggle. Elements of the décor in all of the rooms were collected from different places, hand-made, and purchased in other countries. Employees of the hostel gave a lot of thoughts, care and love in process of putting together cosy rooms in Giggly.

Accommodation

The hostel is willing to offer accommodation in rooms with different amount of beds. There are standard rooms and dorm rooms in Giggly Hostel. The amount of beds in dorm rooms varies from 4 to 10 beds per room. Meanwhile, there are also different standard rooms: standard twin room, standard double room, and standard room with a two-story bed. All beds are equipped with comfortable mattresses that will provide guests with a great sleep at night.

Lavatories are situated on both floors – two on the second and two on the third. There are male and female showers on the third as well as on the second floor of Giggly Hostel.

On the second floor, by the front desk there is a lounge where guests can play board games, have a cup of tea or coffee, watch movies or just chat with other residents.

Food & Beverage

In the nearest future (2013) a spacy cafe will open its doors to the visitors. It will be situated on the fourth floor of the hostel. The cafe will provide guests with simple and affordable food as well as entertainment.

While the cafe upstairs is in process, the catering provided includes a small kitchen in the lounge equipped with coffee machine, teapot, microwave oven, toaster, fridge, which are available for guests 24 hours at no charge.

Advantages

Giggly Hostel is the place of warm and friendly atmosphere with unique designed rooms. Each room has a name besides the number, which can tell you a little bit of what you might see inside.

The hostel is also specific for its size. It is one of the largest hostels in Saint Petersburg with 28 rooms and more than 150 beds.

Staying at Giggly you will not need to worry about safety. The security service is on the duty 24 hours.

Plans

Giggly Hostel plans to reequip some rooms to enlarge the amount of standard rooms. Opening of the cafe is another significant plan of the hostel. One of the most exciting and nearest plans is volunteering at the World Restaurant Day 2013.
